Call to support Egypt to keep the Rafah border open!
~Peace~
Dear one and all, I forward a letter from a friend Nena,
Please I beg you all to act, even though the decisions have been made. We need to act…
~Blessings~
Lynn

Dear friends,

As you know on the 23/1/2008 the wall that Israel built between Egypt and the Gaza strip was breached in many places. Since then thousands of Palestinians from the besieged strip have entered Egypt to stock up on vital goods that have not been available in Gaza due to the Israeli siege. This does not solve the problems created by the Israeli siege but all has alleviate some of its symptoms. The Egyptian government has been tolerant of this despite pressure from Israel that Egypt play the role of jailer for the Ghetto that Israel has built for the Palestinians in Gaza.

We need you to express you appreciation of the Egyptians solidarity and ask that they do what they can to leave the Rafah border open.

Please translate the letter below or a letter similar to it, organize a coalition or petition to sign it and send it to the Egyptian Ambassador in your country. If a meeting is proposed please meet with them and express your appreciation and hope that concern for the will being of the people of Gaza will continue to be expressed by the actions of the Egyptian authorities.

Together we will end the killing siege!

Example letter:

To His Excellency xxxxx Ambassador of Egypt to xxxxx,

As citizens of xxx who are concerned about the situation in the Middle East we wish to express our appreciation to the government and people of Egypt in their compassionate dealings with the Besieged Palestinians in the Gaza strip.

We know that the Egyptian government and people are aware of the many innocent people who have died from inability to receive medical treatment due to Israel’s illegal policy of collective punishment on the residents of the Gaza strip. We know that you are aware of the many more lives of patients who are threatened if Israel continues with its policy of besieging the strip and denying it fuel and electricity. We appreciate your consideration for the families that have been torn apart due to the fact that Israel denies Palestinians family reunification and does not allow foreign passport holders access to the Palestinian territories and of the suffering and victims and the suffering of the people who were often trapped on the Egyptian side of the Gaza Egypt border because of Israel’s restrictions.

We appreciate that these facts have been taken into consideration when dealing with the new reality that has been created on the Egyptian border with the strip and express our hope that Egypt will continue bring hope and solidarity to this dire situation and keep the Gaza-Egypt border open.

We would like to request an audience with you in order to elaborate in person.

In appreciation and solidarity,

xxxxxx
